Workshops & Courses

Since 2016, I have run regular and one-off workshops and courses to create spaces for people to expand into the vast practice of yoga. This is an opportunity for me to really geek out around my specific areas of interest and respond to desires/requests that come from my group classes.

To date this has included: yoga nidra & radical rest, foundational & accessible sequencing for asana and tantric yoga philosophy.

What is yoga nidra?

The magical practice of Yoga Nidra generally referred to as ‘yogic’ or ‘cosmic sleep’, invites you into a liminal space between an awakened and sleeping state, which has the potential to reawaken your innate capacity for deep healing and creativity.

There will be some time to land with one another through words, gentle movement and breath before nestling down to rest.

We will take time for you to get as comfy and cosy as possible.

My words, instruments & voice will invite you to journey into your inner world and connect with all that is arising, all that is awake in your awareness as your body rests. There is nothing to ‘do’ and there is no way to get it wrong – it is your practice and you are invited to simply be, just as you are.

Workshops

Take time to retreat into an evening of rest. Interweaving restorative yoga, yoga nidra, heartfelt massage and enchanting Indian flute, we offer an evening of deep relaxation, an opportunity to come home to your body and settle deep within your heart space. Each workshop draws inspiration from the seasonal cycles and Celtic festivals to frame our intentions & reflections as we come together for collective rest.

These workshops ran regularly throughout the year from 2018 – 2023. Currently, Mel & Leonie (pictured) are taking a break but do get in touch if you like the sound of this offering and would like us to create something bespoke for you, friends/family, a special occasion. 

One day workshops to go deeper into the building blocks of yoga. Whether you are new to yoga, or a seasoned practitioner, these workshops are an opportunity to develop your yoga practice, both on and off the mat. Our day will involve an extended āsana (physical) practice, focussing on one particular āsana/series of āsanas e.g. sun salutations with personalised guidance from me. Time to break things down, ask questions & take an extended relaxation to finish. The afternoon will then move onto a yoga philosophy talk, applying selected elements of yoga philosophy to our āsana practice and beyond the mat. We will close with yoga nidra, to ground all of our learnings in the body through rest.

Courses

For all of the courses below, the recordings remain available if you wish to practise in your own time.

This 6 week yoga nidra course offers rest & restoration as we slowly emerge from winter to the beginnings of spring. Over the six sessions, we will explore the five movements of prāṇa known as the vāyu or ‘winds’. Starting just after Imbolc (the Celtic festival which marks the beginning of spring), we will map this philosophy onto the movement of a seedling as it stirs & emerges as with the call of spring.

Live course dates: Spring 2023

A six week series of yoga nidra classes to offer rest & restoration during the darker, winter months. Over the six sessions, we will explore the koshas or ‘sheaths’ of the subtle body through the healing practice of yoga nidra.

A dedicated online course to provide you with the tools to build your own daily self-practice & deepen your understanding of how to apply this knowledge to promote wellbeing & healing.

Each session we will focus on a separate chakra, from root to crown, interweaving teachings from hatha & tantric philosophy. This will involve an inquisitive gaze on dominant (western) interpretations of the chakra system and an acknowledgment of the huge diversity and vast understandings of the subtle body that exist within yogic & other indigenous wisdoms.
